Did They Say That? President FDR on Picking People
- 1 Comment

“I’m not the smartest fellow in the world, but I can sure pick smart colleagues.”
President Franklin D. Roosevelt
President Roosevelt talks about assembling a team of people around you in order to succeed. This quote says a lot. It teaches that in life, in business, in everything we do, we need to have good people surrounding us. We need to have people that strengthens our weaknesses and balances us out.
The saying goes, “keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” Why is that? It’s the contrasting views and differing life experiences that can help point out things that we might not have seen before. If all we have around us are people who agree with everything we say, it can cause us to miss what is most important in a life decision, in a business move, or even in a relationship.
The key to any successful team is having the right pieces in place whose skills and strengths balance each other out. Individually, each person is good at one or two things. But together, they are good at many things and can win!
