Fav pres... that's hard. There have been many i have liked alot, but i'm more used to thinking which ones i HATE the most. ;)

I guess Jefferson: He kept us out of a horribly costly war with Europe (one we weren't prepared to be in), he bought something like half the continenet (at a good deal), invested in this purchase by having some reputable dudes investigate it, tried to be honest with himself, others, help his fellow man, &c. As a president, he didn't do too badly, but like most from that period, they were still figuing out how to balance the power of parties, and such.

I never did like him creating his "Jefferson Bible", but I really more feel baddly for the Diests, then anything else. Just wish they could have seen and accepted that miracles are a part of His power & wisdom, beyond just His teachings.

My favorite president was always Calvin Coolidge because he was so famous for never talking. If you read his quotes though, he said a LOT of good stuff; I guess people don't want wit & pith but long, florid speeches.

"I have never been hurt by what I have not said."
"If you don't say anything, you won't be called on to repeat it."
"No man ever listened himself out of a job."

There is also a story that Dorothy Parker, seated next to him at a dinner, said to him, "Mr. Coolidge, I've made a bet against a fellow who said it was impossible to get more than two words out of you." He replied, "You lose."

Awesome!

There are so many presidents who are extroverted, and it's nice to have an introvert to look up to.

I have many favorites. I was in high school with JFK, I was at an impressionable age and hung on to every event like a little sponge. But as I grew and matured FDR ecoomic and international policies stuck me as inspired.

Financially speaking JFK would be my faborite, because he donated his whole salary to charity and simply considered the office honor enough. Truly an inspiring example.
Thanks for the giveaway!

JFK. His famous statement, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country", holds true yet today.

That's a hard one--I have a great respect for FDR. He literally worked himself to death to help usher in a new era in this world, bringing us through WWII and passing away just days before D Day. His sacrifice is humbling. I love all the others noted above, for the very same reasons they've all mentioned.

I've liked William Henry Harrison since I did a report on him in school, way back when. He never got much of a chance to fulfill his presidency, and that is tragic. Thank you so much for offering this giveaway! eyeslikesugar [at] gmail [dot] com

Mine is Clinton, because he showed us all that presidents are people too ;) temptation doesn't care about class or occupation. Plus, the event helped spur Eminem's career into popular culture! haha

My real fav is Teddy Roosevelt. Shot in the chest before a speech, and decides to go through with it. Speaks for 90 minutes with a bullet lodged in his chest, bleeding the whole time. Amazing. The bullet was never removed. "but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose"

Mine is president Lincoln because of his great fear of the Lord. That fear is what kept him on his knees, which is the place any leader should spent the majority of their time!!

John Adams: Wrote the Massachusetts Constitution which formed the basis for the US Constitution.... principled man... overcame lots of obstacles... including early days of the Revolution where he basically expected to be caught and hung as a traitor.... raised another President (John Quincly Adams).... was a romantic husband (check out his letters to Abigail).... didn't like Jefferson or Franklin much... Check out David McCullough's classic book on Adams...
