Verse of the Day: Faith Without Works

15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
James 2:15-17 (NKJV)
Faith without works is dead. What this verse is saying is that we need to not only talk the talk but walk the walk. Think about it. If there’s someone in need of food and clothes and you just tell them to go in peace and be filled, you’re not accomplishing anything. You’re not helping them out and all you’re doing is just speaking meaningless words. You need to combine words with action to accomplish anything. It’s good to have a plan. But we need to follow up on that plan.
This is good advice not only for your personal and spiritual life, but your business life as well. When you give someone your word, they are expecting you to follow through and do what you said. Your word is valuable and it’s part of your reputation. And once you tarnish your reputation with someone, it’s hard to get it back. So don’t mess it up to begin with! Remember, mix words with action and follow through with your word all the time.
