Verse of the Day: Open Your Hand to Your Poor

holy-bible.png

11 For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’

Deuteronomy 15:11 (NKJV)

There will always be poor among us so God says that we should open our hands to our poor and our needy in our land. Opening your hand is a sign of giving. It takes opening your hand to release something from you as an act of giving. The poor and the needy also need to have open hands to receive the gift. A closed fist cannot receive anything at all. And some people have closed fists spiritually which prevents them from receiving God’s financial blessings and spiritual gifts.

From the Nelson Study Bible:

The poor will never cease is a realistic statement compared with the ideal expressed in v.4 (see Matt. 26:11).
