Verse of the Day: Your Children’s Children’s Inheritance

holy-bible.png

22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV)

You are a good person if you leave an inheritance to your grandchildren. Wouldn’t it be great if you could change your family tree by leaving a large inheritance to your “children’s children” that would change their lives forever? If you have the right motivations and follow God’s plan, you can do this. Otherwise, sinners will just lose it all because God is not behind their success.

From the Nelson Study Bible:

In the Book of Proverbs, wealth is a topic with many themes. Wealth may come as a benefit of righteous living (v. 11; 10:22); but there is no guarantee of this (28:6). Wealth cannot make a person good (11:4), and in the end it matters less than God’s favor anyway (11:28). A good man knows this and trusts in God to meet his needs; the sinner tries to acquire and keep wealth and in the end fails.

Even a working poor man can leave an inheritance for his children’s children. Imagine if that man took 2 extra hours of minimum wage work and made $10 take home pay, then placed that in an investment that makes 12%/yr, he could give his first grandson $2,890.02 as an inheritance in 50 years when that first one goes to college. Now that’s only about $400 in today’s purchasing power, but I bought a used car this month for $400.

As referenced also, wealth cannot make a person good (Proverbs 11:4).
