Verse of the Day: Don’t Work? Don’t Eat!

holy-bible.png

10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NKJV)

Is this verse kind of rude? I would use this one if your kids are complaining about doing chores or work around the house. Tell them if they don’t work, they won’t eat. Plus they’ll forgo their “salary” for that week. Don’t just give your children an allowance without doing chores. It doesn’t teach them the right values. Doing so will teach them the value of entitlement; that they deserve an allowance because they were born, or because their friends get one. Instead, they should see the connection between work and pay just like in the real world. This will also teach them money management skills and more!

But how much should you pay? Many experts say that children should receive 50 cents to 1 dollar for every year of their age every week. For example, if your child is 7 years old, he or she would receive $3.50 to $7 per week “salary”.

And as always, God Bless!
